Best Places To See 4th Of July Fireworks On The Hudson River From Your Boat
With most almost every town having their fireworks show on the 4th this year you may have a great 360 fireworks show from your marina, but if you are looking to get an up close view below is a list of the 4th of July fireworks shows up and down the Hudson River and the best places to view them.
JUNE 29th
BEAR MOUNTAIN – The best place to view this fireworks show is in the bay just south of the Bear Mountain Bridge. Make sure that you do not anchor in the channel.
JULY 3rd
OSSINING – From Croton Point south has a number of wonderful fireworks displays that can be seen by boat. Actually, the roads are blocked in the Ossining area and you must walk down to the Waterfront to see the displays up front and personal. A better idea is to go by boat, arrive early. Even better is to make a reservation at the Boat House Restaurant, in Ossining, tie up early and watch from there. Call 914 923 6466
HAVERSTRAW – The best place to watch the Haverstraw fireworks is either in Bowline Pond or right off the banks of Bowline Park. If you plan on going into Bowline Pond for the show be sure to get there early and know how to get into and out of the Pond. There is a pile of bricks near the center of the entrance (they are not visible and are not marked). Ask a fellow boater that is familiar with Bowline Pond if you wish to venture in.
JULY 4th
NEW YORK HARBOR – at 9 PM featuring the Macy Fireworks celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Stature of Liberty. The restaurants at Liberty Landing Marina are a terrific location to view the spectacular Macy’s Fireworks or just sitting on your boat within the protected waters of the Liberty Landing Marina can be a soul satisfying experience. Call Liberty Landing Marina at 201-433-3009 they will give you the telephone numbers of the two restaurants on site. Lincoln Harbor Marina, Weehawken, NJ, This popular marina directly opposite Mid NY City, has spectacular views on any day, however the Fourth of July gives special meaning to boating and all its joys. There are four restaurants nearby, easy access to NY City by ferry, and every convenience a boater could ask for with easy reach. Call Lincoln Harbor at 201 319 5100 for
reservations. Newport Yacht Cub and Marina and Michael Anthony’s Waterfront Restaurant on site. If you can get a reservation, call 201 798 1798 an try. Also, call the IGY Newport Marina office at 201-626-5550 to assure a boat slip. This is a unique, wonderful experience you will enjoy and never forget.
SLEEPY HOLLOW – In Tarrytown the Striped Bass Restaurant puts on a spectacular party for $64.90 per person that is usually a sellout long before the patio opens. It is highly recommended that you purchase your tickets early as there are no tickets sold at the door for this event. Call 914 366-4455 for reservations.
PEEKSKILL – Peekskill Bay, Peekskill, NY Charles Point Marina, Peekskill, NY has a huge restaurant and deck, which is directly out in front of the fireworks barge located in Peekskill Bay. The Cove Restaurant located within the marina can be reached at 914 739 0337 and the
marinas office number is 914 736 6942. There is transient slips available.
NEWBURGH – With two marinas, 8 restaurants and a “boater friendly” atmosphere,
watching the fireworks from the marinas on your boat, or the decks of any of the restaurants can be a memorable experience indeed. The newest restaurant, Billy Joe’s Rib Works located at the southerly end of restaurant row has one of the largest decks on the Hudson River. Call

KINGSTON – At T.R. Gallo Park in Historic Rondout Waterfront District live music, begin at 6:00 p.m. with fireworks starting at 9:45 p.m.
POUGHKEEPSIE – Shadows Marina, located in Poughkeepsie, NY is a complete marina centrally located in the mid Hudson River Valley. From this marina the Walkway Over the Hudson can be easily reached by Shadows Trolley, if you wish you can reserve a room at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel located nearby, play golf at the Dutchess “Rolling Greens Country Club and Golf Course” or just sit on your boat and watch the fireworks to the north.
